I liked the faux fur coat and the burning man goggles. My top tip would be to check out some local thrift shops for unique vests, as you can find some really cool and awesome things to wear! I bought a really cool faux fur vest to wear at the burn this year, and have bought several others for $5 a piece at Goodwill.

Food and drink are almost always appreciated, more so than random trinkets, and are super cheap per serving if you're picking one thing to gift and buying it in bulk. Cruising the dustiest place on earth (even if it's only at 5 m.p.h.) wears down every vehicle, and a little TLC is required for the gnarliest of jalopies and the most luxurious of RVs. A new air filter would be a nice touch too. Practical, useful things are also good. I get good reactions from the collapsible stainless steel shot glasses, etched with the Burning Man logo, that I've given out the last two years.
10 years ago I started volunteering and never looked back. Line up the hair and the notch in the eyepiece with The Man and the line on the glass is over your exact location on the map! Worked from anywhere on the map that you could see The Man. Best gift I have ever seen handed out.
